Developmental delay (until age 3)

The parent of a child suffering from development delay, to a noticeably greater extent than children his age, may be entitled to a disabled child allowance from age 91 days to 3 years and, provided that he meets the basic requirements.

Determination of developmental delay requires, in most cases, the child's examination by the Medical Board.

After 3 years of age, it is possible to check whether the child is entitled to a benefit for dependence on the help of others.

What is examined by the Medical Board?

The doctor examines child's functioning compared to children his age. A certain amount of points is assigned to each action, and benefit rate is determine according to the total number of points scored.

If the child is not able to reach the Medical Board due to his disability, it shall be mentioned on the claim form. According to the child's condition, the possibility of the child's examination at home will be assessed.

Documents to be submitted

In most cases, after receipt of the documents, parents and child are summoned for examination by the Medical Board.

Important to know!

  1. Attaching comprehensive documents to the claim will allow us to examine the child's eligibility for the allowance without summoning him or her before the board.
  2. It is important to bring up-to-date medical documents from the past year regarding the child's medical and functional condition, to let us also verify allowance eligibility for a retroactive period of up to 6 months.
